“What’s become of me?” She asked, less in concern, and more in frustration. Why couldn’t she walk? Why couldn’t she see?
She lifted her head, searching the air, longing to touch him, as if he could make everything alright. But it wasn’t alright.
It hurt him to see her like this, the once ever so great, elegant and beautiful she-wolf that was Hexa, now this. He narrowed his good eye, as the blind eye had no reaction to it at all, it was useless, and even though it made him look insane, he wasn't. Not yet. He was still clinging to that last ounce of sanity that rested beneath the black and scarred brute that was him.
"I am sorry this happened to you, my love... I should've interferred sooner.. If I had never waited.. If I had just.." He startled to speak, in his ever so hoarse voice. It hurt him to see his mate like this, and the bloody thought of knowing, that maybe, just maybe, he could've stopped it before it got this far, continously haunted him. It was his fault, this was his fault, he allowed it to happen, by not doing what was needed to, at the time that he had the chance. He bared his teeth as the thoughts and, what was it.. Guilt? Rushed in over him.
Making him just wanna drop down, yet he didn't do that. His body longed to fight, to win back what was lost, to regain the same strength and fighting spirit he had before everything went to hell, and he ought to get it back. He was ignoring her question, not because he didn't want to listen to her, but because he had no real idea of how to explain it all. All he knew was that she was injured, and that she'd never be able to get up again.
